| A Great Example of Checks and Balances Succeeding on a Tight Schedule
The Situation
OUR CLIENT provides services on demand that would normally be provided by the government in the build environment. These services include building inspection, building plan reviews, manufactured housing services, and military housing inspection and planning. OUR CLIENT was awarded a contract with the state of Louisiana to provide training and education to building inspectors, and to help the state develop effective building codes to protect citizens against natural disasters. The fulfillment of the contract terms meant a rapid deployment of staff to Louisiana, and the addition of 100 personnel in approximately 4 months. The organization had minimal HR infrastructure, and HR duties were handled by an Office Manager/Executive Assistant.
The Solution
Checks and Balances, Inc. immediately placed 2 team members on site at OUR CLIENT– one to focus solely on the immediate sourcing, recruiting, and staffing needs, and one to focus on the HR logistics involved with the expansion. Hiring processes were defined, compliant hiring forms were created and distributed, and an online resource drive was built. In addition, the company Handbook and employment policies were re-written to be compliant and relevant to their expanding business.
Over the 4-month period, 75 employees were hired and matriculated into the company, and an online HR resource center was built and introduced to all employees. A new HR Manager was hired with our assistance and mentored by Checks and Balances, Inc. Our goal has been to train the new in-house Manager to function independent of our assistance in the future.
OUR CLIENT staffed their project, met the client’s expectations, and has now been referred to other states for similar business opportunities. Their costs were contained by using our flexible just-in-time service.
So, have you thought of someone who could use our help?
